The Issues

The ACT Government has been killing kangaroos every winter as part of an annual killing program since 2008.

The killing of kangaroos by rural leaseholders accounts for the deaths of more than four times the amount killed by the ACT Government’s annual killing program.

Wildlife road strike is a crisis in Australia with 10 million animals killed on our roads every year, which equates to 19 animals killed every minute. This is a tragedy for conservation, the welfare of animals and for the everyday Australians who drive on our roads.

Did you know that wildlife carers in the ACT are not permitted to rescue, rehabilitate or even euthanise injured kangaroos and their joeys?

Being hunted down by ACT Government shooters is not the only form of “population management” that the ACT Government uses.
